PROBLEM: A global materials company needed a way to support sales reps in the field by providing them with the most up to date, procured sales, marketing and technical assets. It was important that proper permissioning ensure that only sales reps with contracts for particular product lines could see docs for those product lines and those product lines only.
SOLUTION: Since all of the business rules were already defined in the customer’s Salesforce.com instance, Engine Room built a custom portal on SFDC using Apex code and accessing data through Lightning. We also integrated Salesforce Cases, Communities and Chatter for further collaboration and communication between reps in the field and corporate employees.
This portal was then repurposed for a similar use by a different business unit.
